Join us on Saturday, September 5, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Springbrook Nature Center in Itasca for a free, drop-in event celebrating International Vulture Awareness Day! You'll have the chance to meet our two resident Turkey Vultures up close and discover why these often misunderstood birds are truly remarkable. As nature's cleanup crew, vultures play a vital role in keeping ecosystems healthy by helping prevent the spread of disease. Our volunteers will be on hand to answer questions, share fun facts, and help you gain a new appreciation for these incredible birds. We are also planning, weather and bird willing, to demonstrate flight training with one of our vultures for anyone interested in seeing how we work with our ambassador birds. Be sure to stop by our activity table, where our youngest bird lovers can pick up a vulture-themed coloring page to take home. Come celebrate vultures with us.
