Description:
The "Vuela cóndor, vuela colombia "el vuelo continúa gracias a quienes actúan" took place at Jaime Duque Park over four consecutive Sundays—from July 19 to August 9—as an environmental education initiative aimed at enhancing visitors' knowledge, awareness, and engagement regarding the conservation of the Andean condor and the biodiversity of its native ecosystems. A total of 2,522 people were reached during the four-day event. The season featured educational, participatory, and experiential activities designed to engage visitors of all ages and foster a connection with the species through knowledge and reflection. Through challenges, family-oriented activities, and opportunities to interact with Park educators, the program encouraged participants not only to learn about the Andean condor but also to recognize its relationship with ecosystems, reflect on human actions that contribute to its conservation, and see themselves as agents capable of helping to protect biodiversity. The season’s educational approach aimed to transform the visitor experience into an opportunity for learning and engagement, using the condor as a focal species to address topics such as biodiversity conservation, ecosystem stewardship, and individual and collective responsibility toward nature. In this way, the activities sought to go beyond the mere transmission of information, creating spaces where visitors could learn, share what they had discovered, and identify concrete conservation actions to incorporate into their daily lives.
