An annual celebration of International Vulture Awareness Day in Madzharovo, in the heart of the Eastern Rhodopes. The event aims to raise awareness about vultures and their important role as “nature’s cleaners” through a full day of educational, cultural, artistic and outdoor activities for children, families and nature lovers. Planned activities: - Birdwatching session at the Eastern Rhodopes Conservation Centre. - Children’s activities and educational encounters with the edible dormouse. - Reading and discussion of “In the Footsteps of Vitan the Frog and His Friends” with Emilia Vacheva and Yana Kazakova. - Creative workshop “Drawing and Exploring” with Yana Kazakova. - “Wild Rhodope Adventures” organised by Rewilding Rhodopes Foundation and the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds. - Exhibition “The Return of the Vultures to the Rhodopes”. - Local producers’ market at the Madzharovo Djukyan. - Open Day at the Eastern Rhodopes Nature Conservation Centre. - Screening of “Wings over the Mountains” and other films related to vultures. - Evening concert programme featuring Bay Arsen, KEYA and Kartal band. - Public awareness activities focused on vultures, their conservation and their role in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
