To celebrate International Vulture Awareness Day 2026, a community-based conservation event will be organized at Rema-Kalenga Wildlife Sanctuary to raise awareness about the importance of vultures and their role in maintaining healthy ecosystems. The programme will engage local communities, youth, Forest Department staff, and conservation volunteers through interactive outdoor activities. The event will combine conservation learning, community engagement, and recreation to promote vulture conservation and foster local stewardship for protecting vulture nesting habitats and forest ecosystems. Activities Planned Conservation Awareness Hike (Rema to Kalenga): Guided nature hike through Rema-Kalenga Wildlife Sanctuary. Awareness sharing on vulture ecology, threats, and conservation importance. Interpretation of forest biodiversity and ecosystem services. Vulture Nest Monitoring Learning Session: Introduction to vulture nesting ecology and breeding behavior. Demonstration of nest monitoring techniques and ethical field practices. Discussion on community involvement in protecting nesting sites. Friendly Football Match for Vulture Conservation: Conservation-themed football match involving local youth, community members, Forest Department staff, and volunteers. Awareness messages and conservation pledge before the match. Prize distribution and recognition of participating teams. Awareness and Outreach Activities: Display and distribution of conservation banners, posters, and leaflets. Promotion of key messages on vulture conservation and habitat protection.
