French (see English below): Le vendredi 5 septembre, l´UICN et l’Agence Nationale des Eaux et Forêts (ANEF) du Maroc lancent la Stratégie nationale pour la conservation des oiseaux de proie au Maroc 2024–2034. Première du genre dans la région, cette stratégie cible 12 espèces de rapaces, migrateurs et résidents, parmi lesquelles le gypaète barbu, le vautour percnoptère, l’aigle de Bonelli, l’aigle royal ou encore le vautour fauve, revenu récemment après quarante ans d’absence comme nicheur au Maroc. Fruit d’un travail concerté entre différents départements concernés, institutions scientifiques, ONG et acteurs locaux, cette Stratégie vise à inverser le déclin des populations des espèces ciblées. Elle marque un tournant majeur pour la protection de ces espèces emblématiques. Un événement de lancement, organisé conjointement par l’UICN et l’ANEF, se tiendra à 10h le 5 septembre à Taghramt, lors de la Foire ornithologique de Jbel Moussa, rendez-vous incontournable des experts d’ornithologie au nord du Maroc : https://www.jbelmoussaornithologicalfair.cdro.ma/ English : On Friday, 5 September, IUCN and Morocco’s National Water and Forests Agency (ANEF) will launch Morocco´s new national Strategy for the Conservation of Birds of Prey 2024–2034. The first of its kind in the region, this strategy targets 12 species of raptors, both migratory and resident, including the bearded vulture, Egyptian vulture, Bonelli’s eagle, golden eagle, and griffon vulture, which has recently returned to Morocco as a breeding species after forty years of absence. The strategy is the result of a coordinated effort among relevant government departments, scientific institutions, NGOs, and local stakeholders, and aims to reverse population declines for the target species. It marks a major milestone for the protection of these emblematic birds of prey.
