Description:
Natura 5 is participating in Street Delivery, an urban festival in Bucharest, Romania, that unites different civic initiatives. As an environmental NGO we are aiming to highlight the importance of the natural world, practical ways to protect it, and the benefits it brings to humans through our event “The City and Nature”. During the event, we will host Eco Talks, a series conducted by our environmental experts, where we will cover topics such as “Urban biodiversity around us”, “The unwritten guide of a responsible hiker”, and “Environmental NGOs – Who? Why? How?”, among others. As part of our vulture reintroduction initiative, this year we will dedicate a special segment during Eco Talks to vulture species, called "Restoring the sky", focusing on IVAD's theme “Myths vs. Truth”. While we will present the cultural history of vultures and how they have been perceived by the public over time, we will confer a special attention to debunking common misconceptions about vulture species, explaining that they are not a threat, but rather play a vital role in the ecosystem. Through this segment, we will highlight the important ecosystem services vultures provide, showing how their presence benefits both nature and humans, while also sharing the steps we have been taking in the reintroduction process. Our goal is to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of these remarkable birds and to strengthen the connection between the community and the natural world. Considering that vulture species have disappeared from our country 100 years ago because of humans, we want to raise awareness about the humans' impact on biodiversity, having as main representatives these impressive birds that once soared over Romania. "Restoring the sky" segment will take place on the 27th and the 28th of September, from 17:00 to 18:00 EET.
