On international vulture awareness day 2024, the WCB Research Foundation and Centre of Excellence for Wildlife and Conservation Studies BKNM University, are hosting a vulture watch event at Girnar mountain. The event includes guided vulture watching, tracking and scientific bird watching, followed by lunch. Participants will also receiver certificate of participation. Participants will learn about vulture species identification, their feeding habits, and their ecological role as scavengers. We will cover the challenges face by vultures such as habitat loss and poisoning, and the conservation strategies being employed to protect them. Attendees will also explore vulture tracking techniques and scientific research methods used to monitor and study these birds, enhancing their understanding of how data is collected and applied in conservation efforts. This will spark a curiosity and aspire young minds to conserve vultures. The event is designed for students, nature enthusiasts and anyone interested in learning more about vultures and their conservation.
